artist Toribio Sosa

Oscar Toribio Sosa, born in Argentina, lives and works in Italy. An architect by profession he cultivates his love of the visual arts.

He graduated from the school of “Bellas Artes” at the University of La Plata and in 1981 got his degree from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Design at the same university.

After moving to Italy he got his Doctorate in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano where he teaches post-doctorate courses in the technical department.

Encouraged by his father he attended art schools from an early age but kept his paintings and sculptures private.

These works, along with his designs, notebooks, sketches on paper tell the story of a man who has suffered life in a dictatorship and then of the architect who, breaking away from the rules of his profession, has created the forms of “his” freedom.

Toribio, inquiring for a new medias, has created a series of long felt “telones” which he draws, with acrylics, glue, coal tar, shapes revealing his architecture practice.

His few exhibitions, presented with care and sensibility, have been successful and have attracted the attention of international public and private institutions while his architectural works have received recognitions and awards.
